Local First Response Teams Conducted Practice Exercises in Assisted Living Building Prior to Demolition

Arlington Heights, Ill. – March 21, 2018 – Last weekend, The Moorings of Arlington Heights hosted local first response teams in its vacant assisted living building, prior to that structure’s demolition, so that first responders could practice life-saving drills and other exercises in the empty building before it is razed. The community has already donated household appliances, furniture and fixtures to Habitat for Humanity.

“We appreciate the talent and commitment of all first responders and were very fortunate to be able to offer these dedicated men and women a unique space to further hone their skills,” said Lisa Vandermark, executive director of The Moorings of Arlington Heights, who hosted first response teams from Arlington Heights at the senior living community this past weekend.

The Moorings of Arlington Heights recently celebrated the grand opening of The Highlands, its new assisted living building. The second phase of the $70M expansion project, which includes 20 memory support apartments, begins next month.

“The new assisted living and memory support buildings are a significant investment in The Moorings,” continued Vandermark. “We are delighted that this same project also allows us to further support our local fire and police departments and EMS teams.” Footage of the practice exercises and other aspects of the construction are available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPN_gsamDd8 AND https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHo1-uMdxrc
